Does God Permit Divorce And Remarriage?
It's really sad how the rate of divorce and remarriage is even more common and rampant in this rather gospel era, and even be accepted and preached by the gospel ministers of this modern time; it's really sad.
It is good for a man or a woman to pray to God that he or she should marry a good partner, because once you marry, there is nothing like divorce and remarry; God does not permit divorce and remarriage.
People always use Matthew 5:32b where Jesus seems to give a condition for divorce as an excuse for divorce, inorder for them to carry out their selfish desires.
Notice what the Bible says here: 1 Peter 3:16 "As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction".
Mark10:2 "And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.10:3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?10:4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.
10:5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.10:8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.10:9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder).
Notice that in this Bible portion Jesus did not emphasize on the condition that was stated in Matthew 5:32b which said: "5:32b But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, "(saving for the cause of fornication)" , causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Neither did he emphasize it when He was explaining it to His disciples when they asked Him about this things in the secret in (Mark 10:10-12. 10:10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.10:11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.10:12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.)
So if at all you are mindful of eternal life, and would want to see life after dead, don't ever dream of divorcing your partner, not even for what ever reason, because once you divorce your wife or husband and another person gets to marry him or her who may not have been mindful of eternal life, you that wants to go to heaven as a Christian must remain single as long as they (the divorced partner) lives, because irrespective of what ever you would think is your excuse, you are only free from the bonds of your partner once he or she dies.( 1Corinthians 7:39 "The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord")
People always want to use the statement that Jesus made in Matthew 5:32b "....saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery" as an excuse to divorce their partner; but I tell you it's not so, if you ever have heaven in mind don't try anything divorce, even if you got your partner cheating, all you need do is forgive him or her, but if you divorce him or her, the Bible says you should stay like that without marrying another woman or another man as long as he or she still remains alive: (”7:10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 7:11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife" ).
Now noticed that word "Reconcile", you must forgive one another, Irrespective of the matter, but if you must divorce your partner, and you also have heaven in mind, you must not marry or go into another woman or man, not until any of you dies to free the other.
So God doesn't have problem in your divorce, but what God doesn't permit after the divorce is marrying another while the both of you are still alive. Therefore what ever your partner does you need to forgive, but if you must divorce then stay single until dead separate you.
"What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." (Mark 10:9.)
